Teaching

As an educator, Shailee is deeply committed to interdisciplinary pedagogical values and practices that encourage students to apply their learning in a more holistic manner by drawing connections between diverse subjects. This in turn fosters a richer and more comprehensive understanding of complex issues in society. She aims to cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills in her students which will enable them to tackle real-world challenges from multiple perspectives.

Her experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at McGill University in two distinct departments. In the Department of Philosophy during the fall of 2022, she assisted in the course PHIL 230: Introduction to Moral Philosophy led by Professor Christopher Howard. In the winter of 2023, she worked in the Department of Anthropology for the course ANTH 332: Mesoamerican Archaeology under the guidance of Professor Katrina Kosyk. While leading these seminars, she developed skills in guiding students through abstract ethical theories, encouraging them to critically engage with philosophical ideas, and cultivating an environment where students could connect archaeological data with cultural and historical contexts.

Central to Shailee’s pedagogy are the values of inclusivity, open dialogue, appreciation for diverse perspectives, and application of knowledge in meaningful ways. She strives to create a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore new ideas and challenge existing narratives.
