Dancing along the Rainbow

The play “Dancing along the Rainbow” was developed as part of the Nested Circles 2023 artist residency at Imago Theatre in Montreal.

The play was inspired by the advocacy work of Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Katju—two Indian lawyers who argued for the decriminalization of homosexuality in the country during 2018. Set against this backdrop, the script interweaves three narratives to explore the struggles and triumphs of queer lives in India. It utilizes techniques such as audio, video, and visual projections while balancing modernist, humanist, and magic realism aesthetics to ask questions which have no straight answers. The script remains unproduced.
